Charles Port Condition/Recovery (Update 1) - The Captain of the Port (COTP), Port Arthur has set Port Condition Recovery for Calcasieu River Ship Channel including all tributaries and connecting waterways effective at 02:30 a.m. on August 31, 2017. Restrictions on vessel movements within this port complex will be managed by the Captain of the Port and Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Lake Charles
- Initial restriction are based on visual waterway and “aids-to-navigation” (ATON) assessments conducted by Coast Guard, local agencies, and private assets.
- Vessel movement restrictions will be evaluated and updated until channel surveys are conducted

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Port Arthur established a safety zone for the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) between Mile Mark 244 and 246 in Calcasieu Parish, LA effective at 6 p.m. on September 05, 2017 to protect mariners and the environment from hazards posed by the partially sunken tow vessel SAVAGE INGENUITY. In order to facilitate commerce, the COTP will permit one-way traffic with restrictions once the SAVAGE INGENUITY is stabilized

Traffic will be managed by Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) onboard the ALFRED P. CENAC on VHF-FM channel 13
The following restrictions are in effect:
1. Tows permitted to transit during daylight hours only.
2. Light boats may transit the area at night, but shall proceed at minimum speed.
3. Tows permitted to transit through the safety zone are limited to a maximum of 2 barges (loaded or empty) strung out.
4. Tows permitted to transit through the safety zone shall proceed at minimum speed to maintain steerage.
5. Vessels unable to transit through the affected waterway are advised to seek an alter destination.

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Port Arthur has set Port Condition Recovery for Calcasieu River Ship Channel including all tributaries and connecting waterways effective at 02:30 a.m. on August 31, 2017. Restrictions on vessel movements within this port complex will be managed by the Captain of the Port and Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Lake Charles

Initial restriction are based on visual waterway and “aids-to-navigation” (ATON) assessments conducted by Coast Guard, local agencies, and private assets.

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Port Arthur established a safety zone for the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) between Mile Mark 244 and 246 in Calcasieu Parish, LA effective at 6 p.m. on September 05, 2017 to protect mariners and the environment from hazards posed by the partially sunken tow vessel SAVAGE INGENUITY. In order to facilitate commerce, the COTP will permit one-way traffic with restrictions once the SAVAGE INGENUITY is stabilized
Traffic will be managed by Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) onboard the ALFRED P. CENAC on VHF-FM channel 13
The following restrictions are in effect:
1. Tows permitted to transit during daylight hours only.
2. Light boats may transit the area at night, but shall proceed at minimum speed.
3. Tows permitted to transit through the safety zone are limited to a maximum of 2 barges (loaded or empty) strung out.
4. Tows permitted to transit through the safety zone shall proceed at minimum speed to maintainsteerage.
5. Vessels unable to transit through the affected waterway are advised to seek an alternate destination. Slides for the two Marine Mishaps
